This semester the Visual Arts Department Seminar, “Issues in Contemporary Art” sought out to not just learn about the tides of new art, but also to take hold of it as curators, theorists, and writers. For the next few weeks, an exhibition of the works of established contemporary artists like Nikhil Chopra and Joshua Kirsch will be displayed in 185 Nassau and the new Butler gallery as a curatorial project of the visual arts department. Open to the school, these projects bring a bit of the contemporary art scene to Princeton, NJ and allow us to understand and explore questions of self-representation, technology and the consciousness of space through the medium of art.

As the recent New York Magazine article, “Why Do Women hate Anne Hathaway (But Love Jennifer Lawrence)?” thoughtfully explores, Anne Hathaway bugs people. Unlike the magnetic Jennifer Lawrence, Hathaway has always had trouble garnering public affection. For the most part, I try to stay away from the popular sport of celebrity hating that this article examines.
The Democratic Party has promised the electorate change, but is not always clear about what this will mean in practice. There is Obama change with its emphasis on bipartisanship, and there is Big Momma change with its emphasis on taking back the country for liberals. The first kind is an easier case to make to the American people, but it is the second kind that might actually make life better for them.

It helped me to understand exactly what is so dangerous about anti-feminist, slut-shaming women like you, and why the backlash you received after your now infamous letter to the editor in the Daily Princetonian was not only deserved, but important to the future of American women.
