Every year I try to watch the films nominated for the Best Picture award at the Oscars. Last week, I saw one of these, Philomena, starring Judy Dench and Steve Coogan and directed by Stephen Frears. The film is about Philomena Lee (Dench), an old Irish woman who is searching for the son that the Catholic Church forced her to give into adoption fifty years prior.
During the Grammy Awards this year, international artists Adele, Gotye, Mumford and Sons and Paul McCartney won some of the most prestigious awards. In fact, Adele’s 21 was the best selling album of 2012 and Gotye’s “Somebody that I Used to Know” was the year’s most popular single.
The world is fascinated by sports, and this fascination has become easier to explore in the age of the Internet.
