Tethers of raw, unforgiving rope plunge
Into the ground around

Planted beneath the dirt like monoliths,
Lives abandoned by life lie

The sky grows cracked and withered above
As time no longer weathers their hearts

But sweltering and suffocating,
The same desperate anger that buried them there
Lumbers over the horizon again,
Howling down darkness
